World-renowned historic sites, delicious pastas, and incredible collections of art await travelers from the Pacific Northwest with the latest announcement that Alaska Airlines will start flying nonstop to Rome in 2026. This is the latest effort by Alaska to expand internationally, adding an exciting new destination to SEA’s global map of connectivity. With tickets going on sale this fall, now is a great time to start planning your Italian getaway.
"We’re thrilled to celebrate Alaska’s latest announcement, for service to Italy’s capital city next year," said Interim Chief Operating Officer for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Laurel Dunphy. "The history and mystery Rome offers visitors is unmatched. It’s exciting to have a direct connection to one of Europe’s most popular destinations on Seattle’s hometown carrier. We look forward to our continued partnership with Alaska Airlines as they invest in our gateway, and to welcoming European visitors to our beautiful region."
Rome is a very popular unserved market for the region. The new flight answers a call by many who have dreamed of visiting Italy, including from throughout the West Coast and Hawaii. This service will be Alaska’s third widebody international route from the SEA gateway, following Tokyo’s launch in May and the service to Seoul coming in September.
“Serving Rome nonstop from Seattle is a dream come true. As an Italian American whose parents emigrated from Italy, this is a particularly meaningful addition to our network,” said Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci. “Rome has been at the top of the list ever since we announced our new global gateway out of Seattle. Our guests have been asking for an easy way to get to Italy for years, and we’re thrilled to provide it to people in the Northwest and beyond. Andiamo — let’s go!”
