Meet Our Fall 2024 Class of Veteran Fellows

Ceferino Vazquez (Pronounced: sai·fai·ree·noh, vaes·kehz) retired Sept. 30, 2024, after 22 years of continuous active-duty service in the U.S. Navy. Ceferino is a native of Montclair, Ca. His military career started in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and then transferred to conventional Naval Surface Engineering. His most recent duties were Maintenance Program Manager as well as Senior Enlisted Leader on board USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53).

 

Previous assignments at sea included the warships USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), USS Anchorage (LPD 23), USS Comstock (LSD-45) and a Temporary Assigned Duty at Combined Forces Command, totaling 9 deployments to the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Afghanistan, South America, and South China Sea.

 

His assignments ashore included Maintenance Program Operational Readiness Accessor at ATG MIDPAC in Honolulu Hawaii and Cargo/Weapons Elevator “C” School Instructor at Center for Naval Engineering in Great Lakes, IL. 

 

His personal awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals, Six Achievement Medals, Meritorious Team and Unit Commendation Medals, and two Humanitarian Service Medals. 

 

He holds a Bachelor of General Studies from Columbia College and an Associates in Electro-Mechanical Technology from Coastline College.

 

Ceferino is currently working in the Aviation Directors Office as a World Cup Support Specialist where he is supporting all departments at SEA and the Port in preparation for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and World Cup 2026 events. He has been married to Lucero Vazquez and are the very proud parents of Saman

 

Prashansa Gurung enlisted into the United States Marine Corps September 18, 2017 and completed his active duty service in September 18, 2021 as a Corporal of Marines. His MOS was 5831, Corrections Specialist, while being stationed on Marine Corps Air Station Yuma during his active service. He holds an Associates degree in Business from Edmonds Community College and is currently supporting the Safety Management Systems team as a Safety Assurance Specialist through the Veteran’s Fellowship program.
