SEATTLE — The Port of Seattle Commission passed a resolution at its September 10 meeting in support of the City of Seattle’s 2024 Transportation Levy, “Keep Seattle Moving,” on the November 5, 2024, ballot. The proposed investments in this levy include $45 million in goods movement resources to support both Port of Seattle and Northwest Seaport Alliance operations and economic development strategies.
“The Port has worked with its partners at the City of Seattle to ensure that this levy responds to climate change through innovation and a lens of climate justice,” said Port of Seattle Commission Vice President Toshiko Hasegawa. “Each levy has built upon the prior transportation levies to complete, create, or modernize infrastructure across modes of travel for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and freight. This year’s Transportation Levy will be critical to renewing funding for Seattle’s transportation system, directly benefiting the Port of Seattle and Northwest Seaport Alliance infrastructure operations.”

The City of Seattle has funded transportation infrastructure through its Transportation Levy since 2006, with this being the third to go before voters. Over the eight years of this Transportation Levy, $330 million will go toward program and project areas across the City of Seattle with benefits to Port of Seattle and freight-related priorities. This levy renewal includes $69 million in resources specifically aimed toward climate change resiliency, air pollution reduction, and increasing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
